3D printing service for architectural models and design prototypes — to spec, at any scale.
Architecture and design studios rely on physical models to communicate spatial relationships, evaluate materiality, and present to clients. We produce presentation models, facade studies, massing models, and product design prototypes from desktop scale to nearly two meters — with the surface quality and dimensional accuracy your studio expects.
Challenges we solve
How our 3D printing service supports architecture & design teams
Large-format models with seamless joints
Architectural presentation models often exceed single-build volumes. Our Industrial SLA platform prints single pieces up to ~1000mm with ±0.2mm accuracy. For larger models, we engineer multi-part assemblies with registration features and seamless joints — like our 943mm Zaha Hadid Architects site model, which was delivered presentation-ready with invisible seam lines.
Surface finish for presentation quality
Client-facing models need surfaces that withstand close-up inspection under conference room lighting. SLA and Industrial SLA deliver 2–5 Ra μm surface roughness out of the printer — smooth enough for high-quality paint application without extensive sanding. Our post-processing team handles priming, painting, and color matching to ensure your model represents your design intent accurately.
Complex organic geometry
Parametric facades, double-curved surfaces, Voronoi patterns, and organic massing studies print without the geometric limitations of CNC milling. There are no draft angles, no tool access constraints, and no minimum radius requirements. If your CAD model is watertight, we can print it — including internal cavities, thin shells, and interlocking geometries that would be impossible to fabricate traditionally.
Fast turnaround for design reviews and competitions
Studio timelines are compressed — especially for competition submissions where deadlines are immovable. Our 3D printing service delivers SLA models in as fast as 2 business days and Industrial SLA models in 7 business days. For urgent requests, talk to our team about expedited scheduling. We have produced competition models on 48-hour turnarounds for NYC architecture firms.

Materials
Materials for architecture & design
For high-detail presentation models at desktop scale, SLA Standard Resin delivers the smoothest surface finish in our catalog (2 Ra μm) with excellent dimensional accuracy. For larger models up to ~1000mm, Industrial SLA in Tough Epoxy provides the structural rigidity and surface quality needed for client-facing presentations. Optical Clear PMMA (90% light transmission) is ideal for facade studies where light behavior is critical. For oversized models and exhibition pieces beyond 1 meter, FGF in ABS produces structurally sound pieces that can be finished, painted, and displayed.
PLA
FDM · Shore D 81
General purpose, biodegradable. Rigid, good surface finish. Not heat or UV resistant.
Standard Resin
SLA · Shore D 78
Smooth surface, fine detail. Good for visual prototypes and concept models.
ABS-Like Resin
Industrial SLA · Shore D 79
Tough, impact resistant. Good for large functional parts, enclosures, and assemblies.

Olympia NYC Site Model
This architectural presentation model was produced for Desimone Consulting Engineering to support stakeholder review and client presentations. The model needed to accurately capture the building’s complex massing, floor plate transitions, and proportional relationships at a displayable scale. Printed on our Industrial SLA platform in Standard Resin, the model achieved the surface quality and dimensional accuracy required for close-up evaluation in a professional setting.

Site Model Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects
This ~943 mm tall architectural site model was designed by Zaha Hadid Architects and produced on our Industrial SLA platform in Tough Epoxy resin. The model’s complex organic geometry and large scale demanded precise dimensional control, clean surface quality, and a stable multi-part assembly. Each section was printed with tight tolerances and post-processed to achieve seamless joints. The result was a presentation-quality model that faithfully represented Zaha Hadid’s distinctive architectural language.

How it works
From file to finished part
Upload & quote
Upload your Rhino, STEP, STL, or OBJ file. For large models, include overall dimensions so we can recommend the right technology and advise on single-piece vs. multi-part assembly.
Build planning
We review geometry, recommend build orientation for optimal surface quality, and engineer multi-part assembly if the model exceeds single-build volume. Registration features and seam placement are planned before production starts.
Production
Models are produced on SLA, Industrial SLA, or FGF depending on scale and finish requirements. Multi-part models are assembled with seamless joints.
Finishing
Post-processing includes sanding, priming, and painting to presentation-ready standards. Color matching to Pantone, RAL, or physical sample available.
Delivery
NYC studios: same-day pickup or next-day courier. National: custom packaging for fragile or oversized models, shipped via tracked carrier.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How large can you print an architectural model in a single piece?
Up to ~1000mm on our Industrial SLA platform in Tough Epoxy or ABS-Like Resin. For models larger than 1 meter, we use multi-part assembly with engineered registration features and seamless joints. Our FGF platform handles single pieces up to 1200mm per axis for oversized exhibition models.
Can you match specific paint colors for presentation models?
Yes. Our post-processing includes priming, painting, and color matching. Provide a Pantone reference, RAL number, or physical sample and we will match it. We also offer matte, satin, and gloss finishes.
Do you work with architecture firms regularly?
Yes — architecture and design is one of our core verticals. We have produced models for Zaha Hadid Architects, Desimone Consulting Engineering, and multiple NYC-based studios. We understand studio workflows, presentation timelines, and the importance of getting the model right the first time.
Can you print transparent or translucent materials for facade studies?
Yes. Our Optical Clear PMMA delivers 90% light transmission for transparent elements, and Frosted PMMA provides 60% transmission for diffused translucency. Both are available on our Industrial SLA platform at build volumes up to 1000 × 1000 × 600mm.
What file formats work best for architectural models?
STEP files are preferred because they preserve design intent and allow us to verify dimensions before printing. We also accept STL, OBJ, and 3MF. For Rhino users, export as OBJ or 3MF with mesh density set to at least 0.01mm tolerance for smooth curves.
Can you produce models at multiple scales for the same project?
Yes. We regularly produce 1:500 site context models alongside 1:50 building detail models for the same project. Different scales may use different technologies — FDM for large context models, SLA for detailed building studies.
