FGF
FGF (Fused Granulate Fabrication) extrudes pelletized ABS at industrial scale with a build envelope of 1200×1000×1000mm — the largest build volume in the Makelab fleet. For oversized prototypes, molds, fixtures, and architectural pieces that exceed the limits of conventional 3D printers.

Fused Granulate Fabrication (FGF) melts plastic pellets and extrudes them through a 4–6mm nozzle mounted on a large gantry system. The oversized nozzle deposits material fast but leaves a rough, layered surface that requires post-processing — sanding, priming, and painting. The trade-off is scale: FGF produces the largest parts in our catalog, up to 1200mm, in structural ABS.
When to choose FGF
Part too large for others
Oversized displays and props
Industrial patterns and tooling
Furniture prototypes
Cost over finish at scale
Strengths
- + Largest volume (1200mm)
- + Low material cost
- + Structural ABS
- + Architectural scale
- + Paintable and finishable
Limitations
- – Coarsest layers
- – Roughest finish
- – Lowest accuracy
- – ABS only
- – Thickest min wall

Applications
FGF is available on our and and and services. Typical jobs:
Site, facade, and massing models printed at scale.
Oversized displays and product replicas.
Full-size functional prototypes before tooling.
Camera-ready props for film and television.
Iterate on enclosures, brackets, and assemblies without waiting for tooling.
Test form, fit, and function with production-grade materials before committing.
Presentation-quality parts that look and feel like the final product.
Validate tolerances, material behavior, and assembly flow at low volume.
Custom tooling for your production line — printed and delivered in days.
Site models, facade studies, and presentation pieces at true scale.
Oversized displays and product replicas built to withstand transport and handling.
Full-size prototypes of panels, covers, and housings before committing to sheet metal.
Large-format mold masters and lay-up tools printed faster than machined.
Camera-ready props for film, TV, and commercial production on tight timelines.
Dimensionally accurate aerodynamic test models at scale.
Reverse-engineer and reproduce discontinued parts from scans or drawings.
Combine multi-part assemblies into single printed components.
Topology optimization and lattice structures to reduce weight without sacrificing strength.
Evaluate your design for printability before committing to a production run.
Convert 3D scans into production-ready CAD models.
Custom jigs, fixtures, and mold masters designed for additive manufacturing.
Redesign production fixtures to reduce weight, improve ergonomics, and speed up assembly.
